Mega Bloks Barbie Build ‘n Style Pool Party Review

Mega Bloks Barbie Build ‘n Style Pool Party Review

As we reach the real hot, hot, heat of summer, nothing would be quite so nice as to go for a nice refreshing swim. Unfortunately, our backyard doesn’t have a pool, but you know who does? Mega Bloks Barbie, who can now add on to her mansion with the Mega Bloks Barbie Build ‘n Style Pool Party.

While not as large and elaborate as the Build ‘n Style Luxury Mansion we reviewed last year, the 159-piece Pool Party playset has everything Mega Bloks Barbie and friends need to beat the summer heat and relax in style. The Pool Party building set obviously fits in quite nicely with other Mega Bloks Barbie sets, giving the Luxury Mansion or the Beach House a very welcome backyard addition, or it’s also just fine to play with on its own.

Built from the instructions, the two-storey structure has everything you could want in a fancy pool setting, complete with a ladder to an elevated platform with a curved water slide, diving board, and patio set over a lounge area complete with sectional lounger and BBQ station. There are also accessories and decorative items that your family can use to customize the pool.

Of course, you don’t have to follow the instructions, and while this set is only ever going to build a pool, your kids can certainly redesign the decor in a number of different ways and create the ultimate pool party. That was the biggest appeal for my daughter, being able to mix and match to build what she wanted, using the included pieces, accessories from other Barbie sets, and digging into the LEGO box as well.

The pool itself is made up of two pieces, which not only makes for a nice sturdy base that is easy to build on top of, but because the blue plastic insert is only one piece, it also means that parents could actually let their children fill it up with water. Or more likely, not! 🙂

Ready to enjoy a relaxing poolside afternoon are Barbie and Ken figures. Barbie is to be expected, but it’s great to finally see Ken make his Mega Bloks debut. Relaxing is what they are best at, since laying down and standing upright are really the only things these figures can do. But at least this Barbie’s hair seems to stay on easier than the ones that came with the Luxury Mansion.

The GamerPops Recommendation

The Mega Bloks Barbie Build ‘n Style Pool Party can be both a great addition to your family’s Mega Bloks Barbie collection, or a good starting point. With limitless options for how you decorate the pool base, children are encouraged to be creative, while the set itself should also provide them with the opportunity for imaginative play.
