Activision is bringing back the Ninja Turtles

I have two distinct video game memories of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. One, spending countless hours after school pumping quarters into the arcade machine, and two, rage quitting the NES game. If you’re a parent my age, you probably share those memories as well.

So, it certainly brings a smile to my face when Activision announces that they are bringing Turtle power back to video gaming with this summer’s release of the download-only Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. Inspired by Nickelodeon’s new animated show, this third-person brawler will see Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo and Raphael fighting their way through New York City, taking down the Foot Clan along the way. Out of the Shadows will also feature four-player online co-op play, which really seems like a complete no-brainer, right?

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows is being developed by Red Fly Studio, and will be released on Xbox Live, the PlayStation Network and Steam this summer.
