Mega Bloks Halo Warthog Resistance

The Halo Warthog Resistance set isn’t the first Warthog design from Mega Bloks, but it’s definitely the best, adding some design tweaks to the vehicle that is a staple of the UNSC and Halo Mega Bloks collections.

This new Warthog maintains the same basic shape of previous Warthogs (though lower and a little longer), including the four independent suspensions allowing the Warthog to tackle any terrain and the rear mounted weapon, while adding a number of new features.

This version has added metal rails all around the vehicle which can protect the Warthog in collisions or be held onto by other Spartans and marines, but they also serve to make the Warthog look that much more imposing. A (non-working) light has also been added over the windshield, and this new design features a fold down tailgate loaded with removable gas cans for on-the-go refueling, and an impressive machine gun turret.

Eventually, there will almost certainly be other versions with different color schemes and weapon load outs, but with this model Mega Bloks haven’t just updated the design, they’ve made it absolutely the best version.

Warthog Resistance includes two green Spartans to drive and man the machine gun, and while these aren’t technically called Master Chief, they are both wearing his armor and his helmet, so for all intents and purposes, one of them is the hero of the Halo-verse, and the other is his similarly dressed best friend.

Being resisted is a red Elite Zealot, which is such an impressively detailed design at such a small scale, I would personally welcome it in every Mega Bloks set. I’m not really sure how much resistance is really required though, since the Elite is only guarding a small Forerunner structure. That structure can be combined with Forerunner pieces like the Halo Battlescape III to create an even large Forerunner tower, which is a great bonus if you collect the Battlescapes. The added Forerunner structure also helps make the $30+ price tag more palatable, as does the new weapons canister that can strategically stash guns for your Spartans.

Just keep in mind, if you are a parent, that these toys are made for ages 8+, but the Halo games themselves are for mature gamers, and your kids may want to check them out if they’ve been playing with the Mega Bloks sets.

The GamerPops Recommendation

The Warthog is the vehicular backbone of the Halo universe, and this version deserves a place in your Halo Mega Bloks collection. It’s a good improvement over the previous models, is feature rich for its size, and comes with not one, but two Master Chief lookalikes, and the added covenant and Forerunner pieces help add value.
