Kinect Star Wars, which was lining up to be a significant holiday release for the Kinect sensor that is still awaiting its first smash hit, has been officially pushed back from a pre-Christmas release date to an undetermined date in 2012. When we got hands on with the game at E3, it was definitely making use of the Kinect sensor’s capabilities, though it still felt a bit unfinished at that time.
The silver lining here is that when you think of what expectations would be for Kinect Star Wars, taking the extra time to get it right, rather than pushing out an unfinished product, should always be the right answer. So instead of swinging your virtual lightsaber this Christmas, look for it sometime in early 2012.
Unfortunately, that also means that the hilariously cool R2-D2 and C-3PO branded Xbox 360 and controller have been pushed back as well.
