There may not be football in 2011, but there will be a Madden game. To get the fans involved early, EA Sports and ESPN are running a bracket-based fan vote to decided the cover figure for Madden 12. Who’s going to be the cover athlete this year? He’ll be chosen from the following list:
- Aaron Rodgers
- Ndamukong Suh
- Sam Bradford
- Larry Fitzgerald
- Hakeem Nicks
- Brian Orakpo
- Danny Woodhead
- Steve Johnson
- Maurice Jones-Drew
- Dwight Freeney
- Jamaal Charles
- Tim Tebow
- Ray Rice
- Peyton Hillis
- Matt Ryan
- Jordan Gross
- Philip Rivers
- Darren McFadden
- Julius Peppers
- Adrian Peterson
- Mark Sanchez
- Jake Long
- Drew Brees
- Josh Freeman
- Michael Vick
- DeMarcus Ware
- Andre Johnson
- Chris Johnson
- Patrick Willis
- The 12th Man (Seattle Seahawks)
- Hines Ward
- Carlos Dunlap
I’m not saying the fix is in, but unless the contest gets hijacked, I fully expect Aaron Rodgers to win. Partially because I kinda believe the fix might be in. But let’s be honest, at least half that field has no business being on the Madden cover, and only maybe half a dozen are truly in the class that deserves the honor. And only one is coming off a Super Bowl MVP performance.
