If you are addicted to Angry Birds like me, you’ll be happy to know that Rovio has another new version of the game on the App Store now, as Angry Birds Rio has been released just weeks before the Fox animated movie Rio hits theaters.
The new Angry Birds Rio follows the highly successful Angry Birds formula, with slight tweaks to suit the movie. As usual, you’ll launch an arsenal of angry avians at rickety structures, but this time you’ll be trying to smash smuggler’s cages to free trapped birds, rather than killing pigs. Players will also be able to purchase Rio movie tickets via the app.
“Angry Birds Rio is the most exciting thing to happen to Angry Birds sofar,” said Mikael Hed, CEO of Rovio. “We are glad to bring exciting newgameplay elements and a fresh, thrilling new Angry Birds experience to all ourfans worldwide.”
Rio, which tells the story of a flightless domesticated Macaw named Blu who travels to Rio in search of love and adventure, hits theatres on April 15, and you can expect to find me and my daughter at the front of the line, while Angry Birds Rio is available in the App Store today.
It’ll also be on my iPad later today. Because I can’t get enough Angry Birds. The ironic thing? I eat poultry, but not pork.
