Duke Nukem will have a special retail edition

Last Friday, 2K Games announced the Duke Nukem Forever Balls of Steel Edition would be releasing alongside the regular edition on May 3rd. This mammoth special edition retails for a whopping $100, and is one of the better looking collector’s editions that I have seen. I know I am reporting this late, but there is a tradition of tardiness which surrounds Duke Nukem Forever, and I felt compelled to honor that. What does $100 get you? A quick look at amazon.com gets you this:

  • 100-page hardcover book: History, Legacy & Legend: Duke Nukem Forever Art from the Vault
  • Duke Nukem Forever collectable comic book
  • Duke Nukem Forever radioactive emblem dice
  • Duke Nukem Forever postcard series
  • Collectible bust of Duke Nukem
  • And much more!

I am particularly excited about the History book, and I have some prime shelf space saved for that handsome bust. But you may be asking yourself, why would a site dedicated towards parents and family friendly gaming be interested in a game which is about as family unfriendly as possible? Well, Duke Nukem was a part of my childhood, and this game has been in development for 14 years, which makes it older than most of the kids out there! Most parents who have young children probably played Duke Nukem 3D as a young person, and finally seeing it release is a pretty huge deal. So get ready to send the kids to bed early, fire up your system of choice, and revel in some vintage, early 90’s machismo. Hail to the King, baby!
