Madden 11 fumbles the Super Bowl
2011 will be a great year to be a Buffalo Bills fan. Maybe not in the real world in which we live, but in the imaginary world of Madden 11, good news fellow sufferers, it’s the Bills’ year!
Granted, it took the thoroughly improbable signings of QB Eli Manning and LB Bart Scott to anchor the offence and defence respectively, and a draft adding five starters at need positions that the game graded as the only F in the league. But after a 10-6 regular season, we ran roughshod through the playoffs, dominating the Colts, Jets and, Titans before obliterating the Eagles in the Super Bowl.
Fantastic for the long-suffering fans of Buffalo. One would think such a monumental achievement would be cause for grand celebration. Something to say “way to go, you just reached the pinnacle of your sport.” Maybe a little confetti, a little fireworks, or a little champagne? Nope, not in Madden 11 on the Wii. Madden 11 didn’t give me the trophy, it gave me the shaft.
All I got was a lousy executive helicopter on my campus, and that was just for meeting my modest goals for the season.
Where’s my trophy presentation, EA Sports? My parade? My trip to the White House? My Sports Illustrated commemorative issue? Nowhere to be found, at least on the Wii.
Considering that presentation came across as a secondary concern in many other aspects of the Wii version of Madden 11, it’s not surprising that there was absolutely no celebration, just very, very disappointing.
