Ubisoft developing next Splinter Cell in Toronto

Ubisoft announced today that their new Toronto studio will lead development of the next Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell. The Toronto studio was established in large part thanks to a generous government loan, and now they’ll be tasked with their first AAA title, though Ubisoft seems to be hinting that other top IP’s will also be part of the new studio, as it ramps up from it’s current staff of 40, to potentially hundreds.

“Building our studio around both AAA brands and original IP has allowed us to attract an all-star team to Ubisoft Toronto.  We’re really happy to be able to tell the world that the Toronto studio’s first big franchise title is the next Splinter Cell game. Splinter Cell has become synonymous with innovative gameplay, great design, and one of the most beloved characters in games,” said Jade Raymond, managing director of Ubisoft Toronto.
