Konami announces everything
It’s been a busy day for the PR folks at Konami, with a slew of new announcements coming out today. Today’s release bring updates on a number of upcoming Konami titles, including:
- Gormiti: Lords of Nature – Based on the popular toy line, these Wii and DS titles will allow players to continue to the battles on the island of Gorm. Use the skills of the Lords of Earth, Sea, Air and Forest to battle Magmion for superiority. Gameplay features jigsaw and sliding tile puzzle games, as well as 40 minutes of video sequences.”The Gormiti license has grown tremendously since created in 2005 and we are excited at the opportunity to deliver the first interactive gaming experience for fans of the franchise,” said Shinji Hirano, President of Konami Digital Entertainment Inc. “The development team is looking forward to adapting the Gormiti storyline into a rich and entertaining video game that will allow players the ability to interact with their favorite characters in a new way.”Both titles are expected for release later in 2010.
- Also coming this fall is Saw 2, a videogame sequel to the popular (though I don’t really understand why) film franchise. Hitting store shelves alongside the theatrical release of Saw VII in 3D, Saw 2 calls upon mature players to you their intelligence and will to live to survive the many traps and evil machinations of the villainous Jigsaw. Presumably, expect a great deal of violence and gore when these titles hit the PS3 and the XBox 360 in the fall.
- Also coming to the PS3 and XBox 360, via download, is Rush ‘N Attack, a reimagining of the old school arcade title from 1985. With a Cold War plot, this 2.5D action platformer introduces a stealth mode, giving players the option to play through a level sneaky quiet, or loud and violent.
- Konami introduces its first DSiWare title, bringing Frogger Returns to the handheld platform. Matching classic Frogger gameplay with new 3D graphics, Frogger Returns will be available in Spring, so expect it any week now.”As Konami’s first foray into the DSiWare™ space, we wanted to provide consumers with a fan favorite that would have mass appeal across a broad audience,” said Shinji Hirano, President of Konami Digital Entertainment Inc., “With Frogger Returns, we are taking the heart-pounding challenge of arcade Frogger, and giving it a new look for the Nintendo DSi™ with colorful graphics, updated gameplay, new obstacles and much more.”
- Finally, if you’re a fan of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s, look forward to the franchise makes its first appearance on the XBox 360 when Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s Decade Duel arrives on XBox Live Arcade in the coming weeks. Built and master your perfect card deck, and take part in either story mode or go on-line to play against other fans in ranked, quick or custom matches. The game will also feature voice and text chat, features that are always welcome in an online game.
