On Tap: Week Of March 1st, 2010

So, if the typical adage about March is to be believed (in like a lamb, out like a lion, and vice versa), then what to make of the releases for this week? There’s no shortage of interesting titles. Shooter fans (and GamerPops #1 commenter Skidzz) are looking forward to Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Mega Man 10 hits the Wii. The Tim Burton-envisioned Alice in Wonderland movie gets a game based on the film. Probably the highlight for me will be the most competitive part of the upcoming Major League Baseball season, the battle between MLB 2K10 and the Sony-exclusive MLB 10: The Show.
Well, the Winter Olympics have concluded with one of the more bizarre closing ceremonies, apparently. I missed the first part with the giant beavers and whatnot because I was playing Bayonetta, which is equally as bizarre. I somehow managed to finish Uncharted 2 this week despite many nights of watching crazy people go at ridiculous speeds on what are essentially sheets of ice for most events. Plus, as a Canadian, I’m required by law to watch any Men’s Ice Hockey games featuring Team Canada (and the gold medal Women’s final, as well). Anyways, now that the Games are over, both hockey teams won the gold (Sidney Crosby haters probably have concussions from banging their heads on the wall after he scored the game winner), and Canada’s “Own The Top Of The Podium” program was a resounding success (my revisionist history skills are strong), it’s back to gaming and life in general.
I tweeted last night about Robert’s problems he was having with his PS3 not working. Turns out now Sony is telling folks with Phat PS3s that maybe they should hold off playing them for a day or two until they fix this little problem they’re having. That sound you hear is XBox 360 fanbois collectively high-fiving one another and the 12-year-old versions of these cursing about it on XBox Live. What would you call this episode? MS has the Red Ring Of Death (RROD). So does Sony now have the Internal Clock Of Moderate Inconvenience (ICOMI)? What will the Wii get? Dust Gathering Of Sedentry (DGOS)? Mini Game Proliferation Causing Suicide (MGPCS)? Failure By Third Party (FBTP)?
Nintendo Fanboi: “Once again, Jeff resorts to cheap and tired cliches about the Wii. Why does he hate Nintendo so much?”
There, I took care of it for you.
