Batman getting both Brave and Bold on Wii, DS

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have announced video games based on the popular Batman: The Brave and the Bold animated series are coming to the Wii and the DS this fall.

“Batman: The Brave and the Bold the Videogame further illustrates the diverse appeal of the Batman brand and the gameplay is a fun, vibrant extension of the animated series,” said Samantha Ryan, Senior Vice President of Development and Production, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “The game’s co-op play offers kids, families and Batman fans an interactive way of experiencing the cartoon’s iconic characters.”

Developed by Wayforward Technologies, both titles will feature a bevy of villains and superhero allies, including Robin, Green Lantern, Blue Beetle and Aquaman. The games will also allow the DS and Wii version to connect and unlock Bat-mite as a player controlled destructive force on the Wii.

Haven’t seen much of the show (we’re in a solid Dora/Diego mode), but from what I’ve seen, it skews younger than the more recent Justice League and Batman series, but makes good use of the B and C list characters in the DC Universe. Obviously, it’s not going to be Arkham Asylum, but there’s the potential for a couple of solid titles. If it can be LEGO Batman good, that will make it a game to own for the younger Batman audience.

No media has been released yet, but the cartoon’s blocky and colourful style should be easily replicated in video games. We’ll definitely have more coverage on these games in the future.

Look for Batman: The Brave and the Bold the Videogame to arrive in stores this fall.
