GamerPops State of the Union

It’s been a fun ride through our first few months at GamerPops.com. It seems like we’ve come a long way in a short amount of time, especially since we’re balancing writing, playing and site design with full time jobs and parenting responsibilities. But so far, so good.
I’m really happy with the progress we’ve made and the amount of quality content we’ve been able to produce, given that each of us is only getting an hour or two a night at most to play, review and write.
Thank you to everyone who’s checked out the site and provided their feedback, and thank you to the gaming industry that has been so supportive. And especially, thank you to our wives who are being very tolerant of this venture.
So, what’s coming up in the future?
First on the menu is a tweaking of the site’s look and layout, to better highlight our family friendly items (which will also be getting a new name) and to better organize our content as we continue to grow. I’m also going back and forth on the colour scheme and whether to go dark or go light instead of our current half and half. I’ve had positive comments on each, and I’m an incessant tinkerer, so I haven’t decided yet. But we will have an updated look by the beginning of 2010. Plus, we’ll be getting a new logo. Everything so far was just a “enough to get the job done” template. Now it’s time to take it to the next level.
Second is expanding our staff to add new writers and opinionaters to the team. That will help with number three.
Third, more news content on a more consistent basis. I wish we could be the kind of site that posts every bit of news, every day. But right now, that’s just not possible with our busy work and parenting schedules. So that’s a big goal.
Four, more commentary and interview pieces. We’ve got our weekly features, plus our occasional roundtables, but we’ve got some really great ideas coming in the new year, including rolling out our first interviews.
Five, we’re putting the pieces together for our first GamerPops roadtrip. And it could be very exciting. Don’t want to spoil it just yet, but soon.
So again, thanks for supporting us so far, and we look forward to a lot of excitement and growth in 2010.
